Narrative Paragraph #2
Change
"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
George"
Bernard Shaw
Everyone is faced with change in life. When I was faced with the opportunity to go to a new school, I was being faced with change. Going to a new school means entering a new, and often different, atmosphere. During my seventh grade year at Weston Middle School, I had opportunity to apply to The Fenn School. I decided to take a look at Fenn, and see what it had to offer. After touring the school, I decided to apply to Fenn, and about half a year later, after being accepted to Fenn and going on a revisit day, I decided to open a new chapter in my life by entering the Fenn class of 2015. On the first day of school, I was terrified. I was crying the whole entire morning, and when my dad pulled up in front of the school, I would have stayed in the car if I had the choice. All summer long, I had been thinking that this was the worst decision I had ever made. My parents told me that it was too late to change my mind, but they were proud of me for stepping up to the plate to try something new. The first ten minutes of the first day of school were lonely. All the returning students knew each other and were catching up, but nobody knew me yet. In advisor, however, I was warmly welcomed by everyone in my advisor group. So many kids were reaching out to me that day by showing me around and I started making friends right away. The kindness of my classmates stood out to me, and by the end of the year our class was a band of brothers. I ended up finding great success in my eighth grade year at Fenn in all aspects of school life; academics, athletics, social relationships and arts. I would never have imagined things going this way, and everything wouldn’t have unfolded like this if I hadn’t decided to change schools. Going to a new school made me realize that life is all about taking risks and stepping outside my comfort zone. If one does not take risks, he will be missing out on some of life’s most wonderful offerings. Entering The Fenn School as a new boy was a difficult transition with some negative facets. However, the reward of finding great success at Fenn in all aspects of school life, far outweighed these negative facets.
